Kippenheim is situated half way between Strasbourg (35 min) and Freiburg (35 min) at the foothills of the black Forrest in a beautiful country setting and is easily accessible. The trading-, living- and winery town with 5.100 inhabitants and an area of 2.091 hectare is situated in a wonderful surrounding between the rhine valley and the foothills of the black Forrest. Here you will find numerous swimming lakes and of course our town own heated Kippenheimer Pool. A tennis and fitness center is in walking distance of our holiday apartments. Fishing lakes, hiking and biking trails round up what our town has to offer.
The distinguishing position of our hills, named Kippenheimer Haselstaude, are used by the local winyards to produce some splendid wines that do not have to fear competition. In the town of Schmieheim you can find one of the last small breweries that is highly regarded in the country for the quality of its beer varieties.

In the near and distant surroundings you can find numerous excursion destinations. We can be of assistance with a selection if you will let us know your special interests. You can find almost anything here, whether you are interested in gliders, model airplanes, mineralogy or scating, you will be surprised of the regional offers. Do you want to undertake a boat tour through one of the last German virgin forests on the old arms of the rhine river or be a Gold prospect, enjoy a relaxed winetasting of our Kippenheimer Wines or take on a tour across the wonderful blackforest routes? We would be pleased to make suggestions and help with the planning. For gardening friends a visit in the Stadtpark Lahr, is highly recommended. It is a small but lovely botanical garden and of course the provincial gardening show in Lahr starting 2018 (Landesgartenschau 2018).
If you are travelling here from a far and you have not seen our European capitol, then a visit to the “Capitol of our Region” Strasbourg– is a must. Treat yourself to an afternoon in a boat on the canals of the Ill, a visit of the Strasbourg Munster and the trading quarter (Petite France). Even without Knowledge of the French language you will get along just fine, because many of the locals of the Alsacienne Region speak Alsacienne, an alemannic dialect or English. High German you will most likely never get to hear in this area.

In the Vosges Mountains:
Das Monastary St. Odile, der Butterfly park in Hunawihr, the Monkey hill, die Hochkönigsburg (High Kings Castle), the Alsacienne wine route with its numerous from the middle ages sustained and very picturesque towns such as Riquewihr or Obernai or a tour of the Vosges with a stop in a Ferme (simple small restaurant, in which mainly the own agricultural products are served) and of course Colmar with the Issenheim Altar in the museum Unterlinden (Unterlindenmuseum).
